2004 Moontown EAA Fly-in On May 15-16, RCRC participated in the Moontown EAA Fly-in. This annual event attracts regional EAA pilots for two days of flying, food, and fun. There were over 50 planes there representing everything from the world’s largest single-engine biplane, the AN-2, to small ultra-lites. There were several Russian Yak-52 and Chinese Nangchang CJ-6 aerobatic training planes putting on a great aerobatic and formation flying display. |

Michael Jones and Sherwin Arculis organized the RCRC part of the
event with great support from several club members. The club members provided a
static display of a broad range of RC aircraft including military, aerobatic,
and standard passenger planes. The goal was to have scale airplanes that were
similar to the type of full scale planes at the event. Wayne Hampel provided the
facility – a beautiful new airplane hanger with great view of the action. Thank you to the following members who brought their planes out for display:
Andy Smith, Tony Coberly, and a few other club members were also around helping meet the patrons and answer questions. The members handed out RCRC event flyers, club information, RC hobby information, and magazines donated by R/C Reports. It was a fun weekend for aviation enthusiasts and good public exposure for our club. |
